Joe Hernandez, Honorary Trustee

Joe Hernandez was a trustee of the Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of NJ, Inc. (HBCSF) for nine years and served as its President for four of those years from 2004 through 2007. He was instrumental in taking the HBCSF to a new level by creating its current logo, designing and providing the graphics for the HBCSF gala invitations, journal, banners and web site as well as securing entertainment for the galas during his tenure.

Mr. Hernandez has over 35 years of experience in graphic design. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and worked for eight years as an art director. In 1976, he started a graphic design business which was eventually incorporated as Dorelle Communications, Inc. During the next couple of decades Dorelle Communications served an impressive clientele that included Block Drugs, Colgate-Palmolive, Marcal Paper Company, Marty’s Shoes, Modell's, Imaginarium, Two Guys, Weston's, J.M. Fields, Siperstein Paints, Diana Stores, Great Eastern, Value City and Harmon Drugs to name a few.

He also created an enterprise named Latitud 18 Degree North (nautical geographical address of Puerto Rico) which introduced an upscale line of sportswear. Latitud became the exclusive World Salsa Bacardi licensee at events held in major US cities and Puerto Rico. It branded "Salsagear" as the label for tops, pants, shorts, caps, jackets for men, women & young adults.

Eladio Quiles

Eladio Quiles, Honorary Trustee

Eladio Quiles has been active in civic duties within his community, and over the years has served as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Masons, Elks, etc. He is one of the founding members of the Bergen County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce serving as President from 1991 through 1998. Under his leadership, the Chamber was used as a spring board for the BCHA Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation where he served as President for 3 years once the Foundation attained its official 501 ( c ) (3) status in 1998 and which today operates as the Hispanic Business Council Scholarship Foundation of NJ, Inc. (“HBCSF”). The HBCSF continues to be instrumental in giving young Hispanic men and women in New Jersey the financial opportunity to attend a college of choice.

Eladio's work with the Association for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) has been especially personal and rewarding to him. On September 9, 2003, the Quiles family suffered the loss of a young family member debilitated by this disease at the age of 41.

In 1974, Eladio founded Circle Janitorial Supplies, Inc. He has brought a high level of accomplishment, integrity, knowledge, imagination, skill and teamwork to the company which he has seen grow with a vast number of high quality employees whom he values most highly.

Circle Janitorial Supplies, Inc. is a direct distributor of many well-known maintenance and housekeeping products which are utilized to serve Circle Janitorial Supplies Inc.’s customer base of major institutions, hospitals, hotels and corporations. The company is based in Paterson, New Jersey.
